Sensebit, together with subsidiary Trafikia, has been selected by the Swedish Road Administration to supply sensors and software for the new national traffic measurement system. The system will be based on the FLEX Real-time sensor and Trafficweb to give continuous data on the traffic development in Sweden. Trafficweb will be used as the central platform and data hub for managing the system and from which other existing systems that rely on traffic data will fetch information.
The system will replace the current measurement system, based on inductive loops, that has been active since the late 90s. The goal is to modernize how traffic data is collected by introducing a more robust and automated system that is both accurate and cost efficient.
“We’re very glad to have been selected among tough competition and entrusted to deliver such an important system on a national level. By combining the modern architecture in Trafficweb with the new FLEX Real-time sensor, we can provide Trafikverket (Swedish Road Administration) with a robust system that will allow for both higher accuracy and a greater level of automation at a much lower cost than the previous system. We’re excited to be a part of this modernization which will benefit all parties dependent on traffic data in Sweden.” says Fredrik Zettergren, CEO of the Sensebit Group.
